We offer several options:
Semen can be delivered to the customer for insemination by their vet. The costs incurred will include:
* The Stud Fee. (Please see individual stallion pages.)
* Hire of transport container and Royal Mail Special Delivery postage fees.
(Should the mare not scan in foal, we will supply semen for 2 subsequent cycles at the cost of postage only.)
Alternatively, we can accept visiting mares for insemination. Both Kris Gee and Janette Thompson of Oldeworlde Stud are qualified AI technicians and work closely with a skilled reproductive vet. We have full AI facilities including veterinary stocks for mares, dummy mare for semen collection and purpose built laboratory. The costs in this instance will be as follows:
Option 1:
* The Stud Fee.
* A keep rate of £60 per week will cover the cost of barn livery for mare, or mare and foal. To include good quality hay and every other day insemination of the mare by qualified technitions from the third day of heat, until she teases out.
At the customer's wish the mare can be collected either immediately upon going out of season to fully minimise costs or stay with us for a further 14 days in order to scan for pregnancy, which we would highly recommend. A 14 day scan to confirm pregnancy is not included in the above fee. During the 14 day period in which the mare awaits scanning keep will be reduced to a rate of £35 per week.
Option 2:
* The Stud Fee.
* Barn livery including good quality hay at a rate of £35 per week for mare, or mare and foal. (Stable livery available at £60 per week.)
* Full Veterinary package fees to optimise chances of conception. (Please see below)
We work closely with Wendover Heights Veterinary Practice and can offer an option of a concise veterinary breeding package which will include all necessary vet's visit fees, examinations, drugs and pre and post insemination scans. For more information on the veterinary package please click HERE.
Though we very strongly recommend that owners opt for Option 2, we invite you to contact us for a chat if you have any special requirements in order for us to arrange a package which will be tailored to suit your and your mare's needs. For optimum chances of successful pregnancy we ask that all visiting mares be in good health and up to date with worming. All fees due on collection of the mare.
No Foal Free Return Policy:
We offer NFFR in the instance that the mare has scanned in foal at her 14 day scan at our establishment. We cannot offer NFFR should the mare have not been scanned to determine pregnancy prior to leaving us. In the instance of NFFR, the following year's stud fee will be wavered but keep and any veterinary fees will still apply. We also recommend that owners have mares scanned at 28 and 42 days to ensure they are still safely in foal. We do not offer NFFR for mares which have been kept in conditions in which it would not be reasonable to expect them to hold a pregnancy (i.e. turned out with other stallions and geldings.) We ask that customers stick to our October deadline if notifying us if their mare has lost a pregnancy and is eligible for NFFR.
Options for outside stallions & insemination of mares by outside stallions:
We also offer our clients an option in which we can act as agents for outside stallions who's owners wish for them to be made available by AI. Likewise we can offer a package for outside mares to be inseminated by an outside stallion of the owner's choice.
Outside Stallion Fees:
*Keep at £60 per week for stable livery with excercise and 24 supervision.
*A fee of £70 per collection. This fee includes microscope analysis of semen and all associated equiptment, hire of transport container and Royal Mail Special Delivery postage fees .
We recommend that the stallion should stay with us for a period of 7-10 days to be trained to use the dummy mare though some stallions do take to it much quicker. The £70 collection fee does not apply until the stallion is successfully trained to collect.
If you wish for your stallion to stand via AI for an extended period, or the entire season, please contact us for tailor made pricing options and flat fees which will work out considerably cheaper. The costs above reflect 'short stay' visitors who will be with us for a brief period.
Fees for Mares to be inseminated by outside stallions:
As options 1 & 2 above but to include the stallion owner's stud fee. Plus a one off £70 semen collection fee chargable per mare cycle to owners of mares using outside stallions which are standing at stud
at our premises. If we collect from the same outside stallion for multiple mare owners in the same period we will distribute the £70 collection charge between them.
We can also inseminate mares with cooled semen from outside stallions of the owner's choice who are not standing with us, in this instance the £70 collection fee does not apply.
