42" Bay Stallion, 2008
Sire: Birchmoor Mulberry
(by Birchmoor Amadeus)
Dam: Waulkmill Hesper
(by Waulkmill Jackdaw)
It is with great pride that we present Somahouse G.T. (Teddy to his friends!)
Teddy is the result of years of dedicated hunting to find a very particular stamp of stallion to fit our long term vision.
Standard Shetlands of this size and stamp have become so rare to come by in the modern day that we nearly gave up! Somehow we knew that a seriously special pony of this rare
type had to be quietly tucked away somewhere, and so he was! As soon as we saw this amazing chap, standing proud in his field in Scotland, our breath was taken away and we knew
our long search had finally come to a glorious end. We love the Birchmoor Blood and are beyond thrilled to have such a beautiful son of the sire ratings winner,
Birchmoor Mulberry, with us here at Oldeworlde.
Teddy is a truly head-turning, powerfully built stallion with a tremendous amount of substance and masses of quality bone.
He is unmistakably masculine yet has a very sweet head, a beautiful front and an abundance of hair. Looking at him in the flesh you'd imagine he'd have no issue carrying a fair
sized Scotsman over rough terrain, quite sure-footedly, all day long! His exceptional, ground-covering action is remarkable to behold as he really does move for fun!
When you've digested his fabulous type it's his sweet nature that sticks with you. We like to jest that G.T. stands for
"good temperament!". Teddy truly is, like his namesake, a big cuddly teddy bear to be around! He'll happily baby sit foals and a child could lead him safely around on a head collar.
An absolute massive thank you to the wonderful Eileen and Roy at Dryfesdale Stud
for entrusting us with their boy who they've had and treasured from a foal. Many have tried to buy Teddy over the years and he was never for sale so we consider ourselves very blessed indeed
that Eileen and Roy agreed that it was time for him to start a new chapter of his life down South.
Teddy has been bred to very few mares and has produced winning stock with two of our girls already. We are very excited for his future foals.
His 2017 bay filly Almondell Topaz took Overall Champion foal at the 35th Annual SPSBS Breed Show.
Teddy has been colour tested and is homozygous for Agouti, meaning he will produce 100% bay foals when bred to black, chestnut and bay ponies.
Teddy is not at public stud but the occasional foal may be available.
